Ultimate XI: "Kairat" - 80s: Boris Dgumanov
Born on August 27th, 1959. Made his first steps in football in his home town Karagandy together with his class mate Berik Argimbaev. He was then at sport boarding school in Almaty. His persistence and desire were clearly evident. That is why Kaminsky and Segizbaev invited youngster to FC Kairat. Родился 27 августа 1959 года.
Two years - 1977 to 1978 – he played for reserves. And finally he got his chance! Volchok, the Head Coach, substituted Dgumanov for Gostenin on 60th minute against Ararat on July 12th, 1979 in Erevan. At that point Kairat was losing 3-1. During the 1978/79 season he appeared twice more and Kairat was losing again. Although it was a matter of time, but his first win happened only on his 6th match for Kairat. This great moment in his career was exactly three months until Dgumanov's 18th birthday. On May 27th, 1980 Kairat managed to beat Shakhar Donetzk away – 1:0. Next season onwards Dgumanov - key player of Kairat's starting XI. Fearless defender with great strike from both feet, Boris was reading the game well. He passing skills were such that it was delightful to watch for supporters and visitors. His team mates knew that if the ball is at Dgumanov's feet, then you are guaranteed to receive an accurate pass. Eleven season he spent playing for FC Kairat, making 177 appearances (160 of those in the Higher Division). In 1985 he made 16 appearances and was captain in the national championship. He scored only one goal, but of the best in his career! On October 16th, 1982 against Dynamo Kiev, he received the ball from Sergei Ledovskikh and striked with the long-range shot from 30 yards out.
