Getting to know the opposition: FC Orenburg
Everything you need to know about our next opposition - Russian side FC Orenburg.
Friendly games during pre-season is vital for the preparation. Kairat already played one friendly against FK Kukesi. Now the club will face Russian side Orenburg on 19 January. Let's get to know our opposition.
The game will be played in Turkey, where the team is on its first pre-season. Interesting that several clubs were confident that they will the opposition for Kairat, however this is obviously not true as the game was confirmed a while ago.
Looking at Orenburg's results this season we can not say that everything is going well for them. The team is in the bottom part of the Premier League table, placed 14 out 16 teams. In 17 matches in the Premier League the club only managed to win twice, draw 6 and lost 9. Orenburg scored 11 goals this season and conceded 21. In all honesty it is unlikely that fans are happy with this statistics, who still hope that Orenburg can remain in the Premier League after a debut season. Last game Orenburg lost away against FC Amkar 0-3.
Historically, Orenburg was found in 1976 and until 2016/17 season was named Gazovik. The team never played in the highest division in Russia, and only 16 May 2016 the club managed to win the promotion to the Premier League for the first time in its history.
Last year Kairat already faced Orenburg in Almaty in a friendly game. Unfortunately, Kakhaber Tskhadadze's team lost 2-3. Gerard Gohou and Bauyrzhan Turysbek managed to get two goals for Kairat. Now it is a perfect time for the revenge.
