The weather in Austria negatively affected Kairat players. If the day before the game it was relatively warm in Salzburg, a few hours before it was raining heavily.
The beginning of the first half was dominated by the hosts. Austrian side felt very comfortable at the home stadium. For Kairat it was opposite, the team was playing tight and did not really look like themselves. Therefore, unconfident play led to a quick conceded goal. Wolf was one-on-one against Grubov, and if Grubov got his fingertips to it and the ball hit the bar, the striker was first on the rebound and opened the score – 0:1.
Second goal was scored soon after the first one, again Grubov was left against Salzburg player and Berisha got himself on the scoresheet – 0:2.
Only towards the end of the first half Kairat got more relaxed at Red Bull Arena. Away side started to build up the attacks, which did not end with a shot, but at least it increased their confidence.
Kairat was well up to get back in the game, as we kicked off the second half, which led to the goal. Zhandos Soltan managed to put the ball into the net – 1:2. Overall, the game could be split into several time frames, in which one or the other team dominated the play.
Having scored an away goal Kairat felt more confident and went forward, but due to own mistake conceded third goal, Wolf scored again – 1:3. Most likely, this was a decisive moment in this game.
After third goal Austrian side got even more emancipated. Kairat, on the other hand, could not manage to create anything. Last quarter of the game was heavily dominated by the home side. Hannes Wolf managed to get three goals to his name and Mergim Berisha a penta-trick.
Кairat U-19 suffered a heavy defeat – 1:8. A club from Almaty travelled to Austria after finishing local championship, so in the last seven days the team has played five games, which did reflect on their performance today.
The second leg will be played in Almaty on November 23.
